A useful thing to know

Can every broken PDF be repaired?

No. Auto mode first tries to preserve the original PDF structure, then falls back to rebuilding readable pages. Files with severely damaged or missing page data may not be recoverable. Universal rebuild can flatten text, links, forms and digital signatures.

How we handle your data

Repair PDF guide

Rebuild a readable copy of a troublesome PDF

PDFs can become difficult to open because of malformed internal structures, incomplete saves, unusual generators or unsupported features. Repair PDF attempts to read the pages that the browser can understand and create a fresh PDF copy from that recoverable content.

Repair is not magic recovery. If the original file is severely corrupted or contains missing data, no browser tool can recreate information that is no longer present. A repaired PDF may also lose interactive forms, links, annotations, metadata or digital signatures when pages have to be rebuilt or flattened.

Always keep the damaged original. Treat the repaired download as a new working copy, not as proof that every byte of the source has been restored.

Practical checklist

What to do with a damaged PDF

  • Keep the original file before trying repair.
  • Open the repaired result and inspect every important page.
  • Compare page count and content with any known copy.
  • Re-download the source if corruption may have happened during transfer.

Common questions

Can every broken PDF be repaired? No; recovery depends on what remains readable. Forms or signatures may not survive rebuilding. Repair creates a new result and processing is performed in your browser.
