Merge PDF guide

How to combine PDFs without losing the order

Merging PDFs creates one new document from the files you select. The most important decision is the order of the source files: FileVoxa places the documents into the output in the same sequence shown in the file list, while the page order inside each source PDF stays together. Before you merge, move files up or down until the sequence matches the document you want to send, print or archive.

Different PDFs can have different page sizes and orientations. A portrait A4 document, a landscape report and a smaller scanned receipt can all be combined, and those page dimensions may remain different in the final PDF. That is usually preferable to stretching or cropping pages automatically. If you need every page to have a consistent layout, prepare the source documents first and then merge them.

Merging does not automatically make a PDF smaller. The output contains pages from all selected files, so its size can be close to—or sometimes larger than—the combined source material. If the final PDF is too large for an upload portal, merge first, check the result, and then use Compress PDF on the finished document.

Before you merge

A quick checklist for a clean result

  • Put files in the final order: check the first and last document before processing.
  • Keep the originals: the merged PDF is a new download; your source files are not replaced.
  • Review page sizes: mixed portrait, landscape and scanned pages can remain mixed.
  • Open the result: confirm page order, readability and any important forms or signatures.

For ordinary PDFs, FileVoxa combines the pages in your browser. If a PDF is password-protected, enter its password when prompted. Protected pages may be flattened when a new PDF is created, so interactive forms, links and digital signatures may not be preserved. Keep the original protected document if those features matter.

Common PDF merging questions

Can I change the file order? Yes. Reorder the selected PDFs before merging; the pages inside each original PDF keep their internal sequence. Does merging reduce quality? The tool is intended to combine pages rather than deliberately lower image quality, but advanced or interactive PDF features can behave differently in a newly created document. Are my files uploaded? FileVoxa processes supported files on your device. Your selected PDFs stay in the browser while you work, and the merged result is downloaded to your device.
