A useful thing to know
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG uses a white background. WebP keeps transparency when the browser supports WebP export. If your image is already smaller, the original is retained.

Reduce image size without guessing
Image compression is a balance between file size and visual quality. Photos often contain far more detail than a website, form or messaging app needs, so reducing the amount of image data can make a file much smaller while keeping it perfectly usable for everyday viewing. The best setting depends on what the image contains and where you plan to use it.
FileVoxa lets you adjust quality and choose an output format. A lower quality setting usually creates a smaller file, but pushing it too far can introduce blockiness, banding or soft edges. For photographs, a middle setting is often a sensible starting point. Images with tiny text, screenshots, signatures or sharp graphics deserve closer inspection because compression artifacts can be easier to notice around letters and high-contrast edges.
JPG is widely supported and is usually a practical choice for photographs. WebP can often provide a smaller file at similar visual quality, but an application portal may explicitly require JPG or another format. Always follow the destination site's current file-format rules rather than converting only for the smallest possible size.

How to compress an image well
- Start around the middle: compare the result before reducing quality further.
- Check text and faces: these areas make quality loss easier to notice.
- Use the required format: a smaller WebP is not useful if a form accepts only JPG.
- Keep the original: compression creates a new download and should not replace your only source copy.
If you must meet a strict size such as 50 KB or 100 KB, normal quality-based compression may need several attempts because the final size depends on image dimensions, detail and format. For an exact target, use FileVoxa's Exact KB Reducer, which is designed for file-size limits.
Common image compression questions
Why is my compressed image still large? Large pixel dimensions, fine detail and high-quality settings can keep file size high. Does compression change dimensions? This tool focuses on compression; use Resize Image when you need a specific width or height. Should I use JPG or WebP? Choose the format accepted by the website or application receiving the file. Are images uploaded? Supported images are processed in your browser, and the compressed result is downloaded to your device.
